There is a possibility of escalation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, Dr. Subhash Bhamre, Minister of State for Defence, cautioned on Thursday. However, Mahesh Uppal, Director of consultancy firm Com First, feels competition from Reliance Jio would continue to hurt margins of the incumbents. ;With Jio guaranteeing free calls to its subscribers, other players will find it difficult to sustain revenues from voice calls. They will be forced to do the same. They will then compete aggressively in the market for data services, especially by providing larger data packs at even cheaper prices. It is not clear whether players will compete more vigorously on quality of service. This might take more time,; Uppal told IANS. But Amresh Nandan, Research Director, Gartner, said Jio;s disruption with free voice and data offers would eventually subside and become normal. ;Beyond a point, quality and reliability of service matter most. As that takes centre stage, which has started to happen, free or even discounted services won;t help. If Jio comes up with products beyond connectivity that enables greater interaction and transactions for consumers with necessary quality and reliability, then the competitive scenario may change,; he said. Talking about mergers and acquisitions, Uppal said the sector was in the process of reaching an optimal number of players. ;I expect the eventual survivors to be Airtel, Jio, the combination of Idea and Vodafone and the government owned MTNL BSNL,; Uppal said.Nandan said mergers and acquisitions were good for the market from the economic perspective. "Four telcos are dominant in the market and it should lead to a better scenario. However, real value from these deals will take time. These M #038;As are yet to reach operational culmination, which in itself will shake up things a bit more, " he added. "As far as consolidation is concerned, no market in the world has more than five telecom operators, but in India, there were more than 10. In 2018, the Bharti Airtel Tata Teleservices Telenor combine and the Idea Cellular Vodafone combine would take shape, " said Mathews. The country saw almost 40 per cent jump in 10 months in the number of wireless broadband users from 217.95 million at the end of December 2016 to 322.18 million users at the end of October 2017.

Liverpool cruise into UCL group stage This was one of Jurgen Klopp's biggest matches as Liverpool manager, and even with the unthinkable pressure if they had lost, his side wrapped up the victory within the first 20 minutes. Liverpool are back in the group stages of the Champions League for only the third time in the last nine seasons. A first half flurry at Anfield helped put them in Thursday's draw, which will see the five time Champions League winners benefit from Europe's top competition both on the pitch and off it. Liverpool TSG Hoffenheim 4 2 FT Leg 2Aggregate: 6 3 Game Details Live football odds with bet365. Bet Now raquo; Highlights GameCast Lineups and Stats A double from Emre Can and goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino put the contest beyond Hoffenheim, who froze on the biggest night in the club's history. The illustrious Champions League banners were adorned all over Anfield for the first time since the failed 2014 15 campaign, when Liverpool were unable to get out of their not too difficult group. Before kickoff, this playoff was very much alive as a result of Hoffenheim striker Mark Uth's late goal at the Rhine Neckar Arena a week ago, which cut Liverpool's lead to 2 1. On Wednesday, Klopp opted to start the same lineup from the first leg. For Hoffenheim, the score line and the history books were against them as no German team had ever won at Anfield in 18 previous attempts. The bravado and confidence of their players and 30 year old manager Julian Nagelsmann beforehand seemed entirely misplaced as Klopp had clearly ordered his players to search for an early goal. Liverpool squandered two chances within the opening five minutes; Salah headed over the crossbar and keeper Oliver Baumann denied Sadio Mane in a one on one situation. However, they would not have to wait long for the breakthrough. Mane burst through Hoffenheim's high defensive line once again and back heeled the ball into the path of Can, whose shot took a thick deflection beyond Baumann into the bottom left corner. The knockout blow came eight minutes later when Georginio Wijnaldum hit the post off Firmino's cutback and Salah followed up on the rebound. The visitors' job then became impossible in the 20th minute when Firmino found Can at the back post to make it 3 0. As in the first leg, substitute Uth pulled one back for the visitors. The striker came off the bench shortly after Liverpool's third goal, while defender Havard Nordtveit received the hook from Nagelsmann. After the half time break, Liverpool still searched for more goals. Defensive midfielder Jordan Henderson beat the unwilling Kevin Vogt in a challenge to run through on goal before unselfishly squaring for Firmino to tap in for a 4 1 lead. Sandro Wagner headed in a consolation for Hoffenheim, while Liverpool barely broke a sweat to secure their place in the Champions League, a place they firmly believe they belong. Two goals from Emre Can set Liverpool on their way to the Champions League group stage. 2. Klopp's forwards are a match for any opponent in Europe Despite missing Philippe Coutinho (arguably their best player) due to the ongoing transfer saga, Liverpool still remain one of the most penetrative attacking forces in Europe. They will be a match for any team this season. Defensively, though, teams will still fancy their chances against a shaky back four. The pace and power of Liverpool's forward trio was the least of Hoffenheim's worries on Wednesday. In addition to attempting to deal with Mane, Salah and Firmino, Wijnaldum and Can consistently made lung busting late runs into the penalty area. It's a gung ho approach that might be the sole reason for Klopp's side being able to beat opponents after playing less than a quarter of a match. However, it's also a contributing reason Liverpool have never had a consistently sturdy defense throughout Klopp's reign. After virtually putting the tie to bed, poor defending from Dejan Lovren led to Uth's goal and planted the tiniest seed of doubt into Liverpool minds, but from there they looked to add to their commanding lead rather than protect what they had. It's probably the best way for Liverpool to set up in games at the moment, both domestically and in Europe. In Klopp's mind, attack is really the best form of defence. Mohamed Salah scored in a superb opening spell that saw Liverpool score three times inside 20 minutes. 3. Liverpool must make a genuine run at the Champions League Liverpool's dearth of participation in the tournament over the past decade will make their task this coming season more difficult. For Thursday's draw they will be placed in Pot 3 along with Tottenham Hotspur, although UEFA rules prohibit teams from the same country being drawn in the same group. Regardless, it is probable that Klopp's side will be drawn with European heavyweights from Pots 1 and 2, perhaps including Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint Germain and or Borussia Dortmund. Under Klopp, Liverpool have proven their ability to beat any team on any given day. But so far they haven't had to do so when competing on multiple fronts in a season. The last time they were in the Champions League, then manager Brendan Rodgers made the unpopular decision to leave out several key players at Real Madrid's Bernabeu ahead of a Premier League encounter with Chelsea the following weekend. Mistakes like that shouldn't happen again. The competition has been tough for English teams of late, but it should not deter Liverpool from making a good go at it. With Klopp (who guided the club to a Europa League final in his first season) at the helm, who knows how far they can go? Glenn is ESPN FC's Liverpool correspondent. WASHINGTON (BP) In a speech to America's largest pro gay lobbying group, Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine said the Bible buttresses his support of same sex marriage. And he predicted the Roman Catholic Church eventually will change its mind on the issue, like he has.Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine told the Human Rights Campaign Sept. 10 he advocates "full, complete, unconditional support for marriage equality."Screen capture from YouTube Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine told the Human Rights Campaign Sept. 10 he advocates "full, complete, unconditional support for marriage equality."Screen capture from YouTube Evangelical theologians, however, said Kaine appeared to distort biblical teaching and Catholic doctrine in service of a political agenda.Speaking Sept. 10 at the annual Human Rights Campaign (HRC) dinner in Washington, Kaine called himself a "devout Catholic" and acknowledged the Catholic Church is opposed to same sex marriage, according to a video of the speech posted online.Virginia's junior senator said he formerly opposed legalizing same sex marriage but recounted a personal conversion on the issue. As a candidate for Virginia lieutenant governor in 2001, Kaine told the Associated Press he opposed same sex marriage. Four years later, he opposed granting adoption rights to same sex couples while running for governor, according to The Washington Post. However, in 2006 he campaigned against Virginia's state constitutional amendment defining marriage as only between a man and a woman. Then during his Senate campaign six years later, he supported same sex adoption when declared by a judge to be in a child's best interest, The Post reported. Kaine's Senate votes have garnered a 90 percent approval rating from the HRC.On Saturday, Kaine told the HRC his change of mind on same sex marriage stemmed in part from recognizing the dishonorable motives of some Virginia legislators who favored the commonwealth's marriage amendment. Behind the scenes, some lawmakers admitted that amending the state constitution to protect marriage was "a really bad idea" advanced to score political points with conservative voters, Kaine alleged.Moments later, Kaine discussed the relationship between his Catholic faith and his views on marriage."My full, complete, unconditional support for marriage equality is at odds with the current doctrine of the church I still attend," Kaine said. "But I think that's going to change too."Such change may occur "because my church also teaches me about a creator in the first chapter of Genesis, who surveys the entire world including mankind and says , 'It is very good,'" Kaine said, referencing Genesis 1:31. "Pope Francis famously said, 'Who am I to judge?' And to that I want to add: Who am I to challenge God for the beautiful diversity of the human family? I think we're supposed to celebrate it, not challenge it."'Biblically defenseless'Stephen Andrews, professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, told Baptist Press Kaine's use of Genesis 1 in support of same sex marriage is "inaccurate, misleading and inconsistent with the clear teaching of the rest of the Bible."While God's statement that creation was "very good" included human sexuality, it was not focused on sexuality and certainly did not endorse same sex sexual activity, Andrews said in written comments.Genesis 1 2 states that "God's plan for blessing is through the marriage of a man and a woman," Andrews said. "God created humankind as male and female (Gen. 1:27), not as male and male or female and female. This is significant because humanity is to be 'fruitful and multiply and fill the earth' (Gen. 1:28). This creation mandate could not be accomplished through same sex marriage."In addition, God's affirmation of creation as "very good" occurred before the fall of humankind into sin and did not endorse any state of affairs that "came about because of man's sinful rebellion.""The idea that Genesis 1:31 covers same sex marriage or any other form of sinful sexual expression," Andrews said, "assumes that God is responsible for whatever humanity has done in the past, present or future." By this same logic, "rape, pedophilia, bestiality and other sexual behavior is 'good.' ... Following this logic, it would also be possible to call the murderous actions of a Hitler or Khmer Rouge 'good.'"Southern Baptist Theological Seminary President R. Albert Mohler Jr. made a similar point Sept. 14 in his podcast The Briefing, noting that from the fall forward, "we do see the glory of God revealed, but we also see, as the Scripture makes equally clear, the reality of human sinfulness and its consequences made clear in the creation.""Kaine's argument leaves him absolutely intellectually and morally not to say biblically defenseless against making any argument against polygamy or, for that matter, virtually anything else," Mohler said. "It is absolute nonsense to look at the world as we see it and say that's exactly what God intended and thus we must bless everything."Of course, Sen. Kaine won't do that. He just has been selective when speaking to the Human Rights Campaign, selectively citing Genesis 1 where it is convenient for him," Mohler said.'Far afield' of CatholicismRex Butler, professor of church history and patristics at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, told BP that Kaine appeared to misrepresent the trajectory of the Catholic Church on homosexuality.Kaine and certain other Catholic politicians appear to claim "the Catholic label when it suits them politically but subvert Catholic teachings when they contradict the politicians' support for same sex marriage and abortion."Pope Francis has explained, Butler said, that his 2013 comment quoted by Kaine was not intended to condone same sex sexual activity."When questioned about his comment, 'Who am I to judge?', Pope Francis affirmed that he supports the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which teaches that homosexual acts are 'intrinsically disordered' and contrary to natural law. Accordingly, homosexual acts cannot be approved," Butler said in written comments."At the same time, the Catholic Church acknowledges that a number of men and women have 'deep seated homosexual tendencies,' but the Church denies that such tendencies are inborn," Butler said. "The Catechism goes on to instruct the Church to accept such men and women with 'respect, compassion, and sensitivity' and to avoid 'unjust discrimination.' Finally, 'homosexual persons are called to chastity,' with God's support against temptation (1 Cor. 10:13)."The pope's comment "fits well within the Catholic doctrine on homosexuality," Butler said. "Tim Kaine's support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community and its agenda falls far afield of the Catholic Church to which he claims allegiance."A full video of Kaine's speech is available at hillaryspeeches.com.Formed in 1946 by the Southern Baptist Convention, and supported with Cooperative Program funds, Baptist Press (BP) is a daily (M F) international news wire service.
