After cleansing with your face wash of choice, toners can help get the very last bit of makeup (or any other impurities like pollution and dirt) off your skin. It really only takes looking at a cotton pad postswipe and seeing leftover grime still there to be sold. Toners also help clarify and tighten pores, and while many have gotten a bad rap historically for overstripping, good toners actually work to remove excess oils, lightly exfoliate, and balance skin''s pH instead. Our editors have already tried dozens of toners over the years, and these are their favorites . . . with not one on this list costing more than $34. See which toners get our stamp of approval ahead, and read our reviews, too.

In his new book, Symbolism of Truth: Love, author Troy R. Smith dives deep into the scripture to lay bare the biblical meaning of love and help Christians better appreciate its depth and magnitude so that they may apply it fully in their own lives. Seeing the colloquial and excessive usage of the word in modern culture, he felt drawn to discern what God means by love versus its secular definition. Love is a word that is thrown around all the time with no consequence, said Smith. It is the greatest of all spiritual gifts, yet people use it with little understanding for the weight it carries. Through Symbolism of Truth: Love, I examine God s intention with love so that others may see just how precious it is and use it with more regard.

Toxins in snake venoms are classified based on the way they act. Neurotoxins lead to neuromuscular paralysis; hemotoxic proteins block blood clotting or help bleed excessively; the cytotoxic compounds kill cells and myotoxic compounds affect muscles.Genome mapping could pave the way in making antivenom for snake bite victims. Our hypothesis is that targeting the most abundantly present toxins in the venom is the key to quickly neutralise the systemic effects of the venom, said Kushal Suryamohan, first author of the study.
Coming from a middle class environment desi implies that nothing will ever change. One day, you could earn some extra dollars compared to your parents after working harder than anyone you;ve ever met. You may be able to pay for a trip to Europe every two years. You may also replace your kitchen;s plastic dishes with fine porcelain. Your clothes can also change from clothes purchased from local merchants to something of a brand that is only obtained in bright shopping centers. Your children could go to expensive schools where all the children come in their cars and not on the school bus.But the middle class mentality will always be your best friend. You will still pick up the shopping bags in your pantry. Your sewing kit will always be a can of cookies. You will verify your bank account from time to time considering that you know the value of money. Your preferences when spending money will always remain defined. Excessive spending of the people around you will always pinch you. There is something inside you that will always tell you not to buy an expensive designer jewelry that you can only use once in your life.

Is alcohol good for diabetics or should you avoid it at all costs? This is a debate that has been going on for years. Even experts disagree when it comes to alcohol consumption and its effects on people with diabetes. But most seem to agree somewhat on the theory that moderate consumption of alcohol may be okay if you have diabetes. In fact, one research at Boston University Medical Center says that moderate drinkers tend to have about 30 per cent lower risk of developing late onset diabetes than do non drinkers.Anything in excess is not good for health. The same is the case with alcohol. This is true for all people. But if you are diabetic, you have to be even more careful. This is because alcohol can interfere with blood sugar levels. It can also have an impact on the hormones that are essential to maintain healthy blood sugar levels. Too much alcohol may also reduce the effectiveness of insulin. If you enjoy your drink and are diabetic, the best way to go about it is to have a frank discussion with your doctor. He can guide you based on your diabetes history.

Onchocerciasis is caused by the infection of a specific type of parasitic worm inside the human body. The parasite is almost always transferred to the human body by black flies through biting. Global statistics show that onchocerciasis is the second highest infection based cause of blindness in the world, second only to trachoma. Common symptoms of onchocerciasis include bumps under the skin, excessive itching, and finally blindness. Studies show that a patient needs to be bitten for a large number of times to contract onchocerciasis. There are, unfortunately, no vaccines present that can eradicate onchocerciasis. The most common form of cure for onchocerciasis is prevention, which is largely done using insect repellents or fully protective clothing near or inside rivers. Additional research and development is also being made towards the use of specialized insecticides that can help eliminate black flies, while from a medical perspective, the people living close to rivers can be given protective treatments twice a year. Common treatment includes the administration of a drug named ivermectin once every six to twelve months. However, it should be noted that ivermectin only destroys the larva without killing the adults. They can be weakened using doxycycline, an antibiotic that kills the bacteria associated with the adults. Additionally, surgical treatment may be recommended to patients in order to remove the lumps under their skins. The WHO lists onchocerciasis as a neglected tropical disease, and approximately 15.5 mn people are known to be suffering from it.
