Any person who has become conscious of the existence and presence of God has experienced the most important and heart shaking of experiences. Suddenly, the world and that individual s place in it takes on a completely different aspect and meaning. So many people wander through their journey of earthly life without discovering what that meaning is they are born, grow, eat and drink, mate, age and die, without ever realizing that their physical components of atoms are as minute and insignificant as those of one tiny ant lost on a huge planet; but these atoms are only the temporary belongings of a soul which inhabits a vastly different plane of existence. A believer becomes a believer when some inkling of that reality enters his conscious mind. The person may never have thought about God at all or realized that the faith of others was relevant; or that person may have prayed routinely and out of familiar duty for years. The moment of realization, if it comes, is different for every individual. But once it comes, life changes forever for that individual. It is not only the overwhelming realization that there really is a God, an Almighty and Supreme Being, but that the power and heart of this Being created and now maintains all that exists, encompasses the entire vastness of all the universes, and yet at the same time is aware not only of each person as an individual, but of each ant, and of each microbe that may live within the body of that ant. Prayer is an acknowledgment of our absolute dependence on God on one hand, in contrast to God s absolute power on the other. The act of prayer puts us in our true place, and also acknowledges God s rightful station. Prayer, then, is not the wishful thinking or illusions of the pious but is actually acceptance of things as they are; in prayer, consciousness is the ultimate degree of realism; and the apprehension of reality, in turn, is the most excellent of all actions.
However, when Google launched Google Pixel, there were a couple of apps like Google Phone app that were designed only for the Pixel hardware or android devices. In this case, non android users and non pixel users could not download these apps into their smartphones. If you see, this concept of designing apps that work well with your hardware devices is something very similar to what the iPhone does. When Google launched Pixel, the objective was to win over the affluent market (that was more or less inclined towards iPhone) by introducing a high tech smartphone. But with the passage of time, Google did redefine some of its Pixel based apps and made it compatible with non pixel and non android phones. Recently,

The poor and vulnerable beneficiaries of PM JAY have been from both urban and rural locations in India. Pooja Thapa, the one crore th beneficiary, a housewife with two small children, and a husband serving in the army, is from Meghalaya, and she got her treatment in a Shillong hospital. During her interactions with PM Modi, she thanked him and said that she underwent free surgery including free medicines, and is on the road to recovery.PM JAY is a giant step towards a healthy India, as it aims to make affordable, accessible healthcare a reality for all. PM JAY has crossed a significant milestone of one crore hospitalisations, worth over Rs. 13,412 crore, in less than 20 months since its launch on September 23, 2018. Delivering one crore free and cashless treatments in this time period shows that there was a lot of demand and people needed a scheme like PM JAY. The efforts of the doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, para medical staff and all others associated with Ayushman Bharat, across all states, have helped in making it the largest healthcare programme in the world.
There is a purpose, as they say, for everything in life. When the prime minister announced a lockdown from March 25 onwards, I resolved to contribute to the fight against the global pandemic. I had obtained a nursing officer ''s degree from Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi, before I joined the film industry to pursue my love for acting. Only a month before the lockdown began, my first film as a lead actress, Kaanchli, had been released. I had earlier done small roles in movies like Shah Rukh Khan ''s Fan (2016) and Taapsee Pannu ''s Running Shaadi (2017). I thought my career in cinema was on the right track after its release because I was receiving accolades for my performance. I, therefore, had no intention to join a hospital as a nurse. But the coronavirus crisis made me realise that God had made me get a nursing degree because of this moment.During the Janata Curfew (March 22), I made a video to create awareness about the need for social distancing. At the PM ''s bidding, I clanged a thali to express solidarity with doctors and other medical personnel at the forefront of the war against the virus. I knew that it would not be an easy battle and all the hospitals treating COVID 19 patients might be short of trained medical personnel, so I rushed to Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasahab Thackeray Hospital at Jogeshwari in Mumbai with my degree to offer my services as a nurse. It was one of the two hospitals which had opened an isolation ward to treat COVID 19 patients at that time.
THE GUARDIAN newspaper recently called Kerala Health Minister K.K. Shailaja the coronavirus slayer for saving the state from Covid 19. The interviewer, Laura Spinney, who has written a well received book on how the Spanish Flu changed the world, referred to Shailaja as a rock star . As the story went viral across the world, Shailaja Teacher, as she is popularly known, managed to visit her home in Kannur for a day. She was meeting her husband and children for the first time in three months.Shailaja is leading thousands of women who are fighting the virus in various capacities. Kerala s Covid 19 story, which is an ideal case of humanitarian politics, is also the story of its unleashed women power. Dr B. Iqbal, who chairs the expert committee on Covid 19 that advises the state government, told THE WEEK that this is a unique aspect of Kerala s successful resistance against the virus. From our health minister to the ASHA workers (accredited social health activists) on the ground, they are the frontal warriors in this fight, he said.
Washington D.C. India , May 23 (ANI): In a breakthrough study, researchers have found that use of antibiotics in infancy can raise the risk of obesity in early childhood, with boys being slightly more vulnerable. The findings by a team of researchers from Singapore''s NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine), Agency for Science, Technology and Research''s (A STAR) Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences (SICS), and KK Women''s and Children''s Hospital (KKH) have been published in the scientific journal International Journal of Obesity.Animal studies using mice have documented that early life antibiotic exposure causes metabolic abnormalities including obesity through gut microbiota disruption although there is limited evidence from human studies. There is also accumulating evidence that suggests colonization of the gut microbiota at an early age plays a pivotal role in the weight gain and development of obesity in the later life (between ages 12 14).In a sub study of the Growing up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcome (GUSTO) birth cohort, led by Professor Lee Yung Seng, Head of Paediatrics at NUS Medicine and Group Director, Paediatrics, National University Health System (NUHS) and Principal investigator at SICS, and Dr Neerja Karnani, Adjunct Assistant Professor at NUS Medicine''s Department of Biochemistry and Senior Principal Investigator, SICS, the team examined the implication of gut microbiota in the relationship between infant antibiotic exposure and childhood obesity.Other lead researchers for this study are Dr Ling Wei Chen and Dr Jia Xu from SICS, A STAR. Very few human studies to date have examined this association.Through the study, the team showed that the use of antibiotics in infancy can raise the risk of obesity in early childhood, with the boys being slightly more vulnerable.Recurrent administration of antibiotics can disrupt the development of infant gut microbiota and serve as a potential mechanism for linking antibiotic exposure with later adiposity."Childhood obesity is a growing concern for the many adverse health effects it brings in adulthood such as Type 2 diabetes. The infancy period (1st year) represents part of a critical window of development which can have a lasting effect on subsequent health and disease later in life," said Prof Lee.The human gut relies on its microbial inhabitants to provide certain essential nutrients, aid digestion, and support their immune system. Acquisition of these friendly microbes starts immediately after birth and this process is highly sensitive to infant exposures.Antibiotics use is one such exposure. Although it helps eliminate the pathogenic bacteria, it may also eliminate some good bacteria during the course of its action."Acquisition of gut microbes in infancy is a highly dynamic and vulnerable process. Use of antibiotics during this process can disrupt the normal colonization and development of infant gut microbiota, and this may consequently influence a child''s weight gain and obesity risk," added Dr Karnani. The associated alterations in the gut microbiota through the use of antibiotics and their link with child adiposity has important implications on the role of gut microbiota in the development of body fat and risk of obesity, and the mechanism through which antibiotics exposure can lay the foundation for bad metabolic outcomes in the future. The findings of this study amplify the need for the careful consideration of the benefits vs the risks of administrating antibiotics and the frequency of their use in early life. The data from the study was based on interviewer administered questionnaires with parents, body composition measurements, and laboratory analysis of stool samples in children from the GUSTO mother offspring cohort study. The annual #8216;Digital Impact and Sustainability 2019 20 #8216; (PDF) report covers a multitude of different areas, but we;ll primarily focus on the environmental impact side of this. Overall the operator appears to be making steady progress toward their primary ambition of becoming a net zero carbon emissions business by 2045 (briefly summarised below). All of this is important given BT ''s significant size and impact. For example, the operator consumes nearly 1% of the United Kingdom ''s entire grid electricity supply and they have 34,000 vehicles in their fleet (28,000 used by Openreach engineers), although they have recently started to trial 23 electric vans (with 46 more on order) but this roll out is restricted by the country ''s weak "nationwide infrastructure for charging vehicles. Let us not be unfair to the government. I have supported Prime Minister Modi when he first announced the lockdown, while noting that its preparation, timing and communication left much to be desired. The PM was decisive when a hard call had to be taken. Indecision or further delay could have landed us in a worse state than we are. In retrospect, we now know that our response was already delayed, but it would be unfair to indict the government on that basis. Global knowledge and awareness at that time did not warrant such a response. On balance, we reacted faster than most other countries. It would also be unfair to blame the Modi government for all the mess that we face today. A largely unanticipated pandemic is bound to create havoc, even in the best of places. It is bound to be worse in a country like India, given the weak public health fundamentals and fragile response systems. An indictment of the Modi government must be careful about limiting itself to what could have been anticipated, what could have been achieved in our conditions. And it must leave room for genuine mistakes. Faced with a crisis of this kind, the best of leaders with the purest intentions will make erroneous calls. They must be criticised, but not indicted for bona fide errors of judgement.
