Samsung could be working on a new way to go bezel less on smartphones and not have to rely on the infamous notch to house front facing camera sensors. The better part of 2018 saw almost all smartphone manufacturers resorting to the notch to get a near bezel free look on their smartphone displays, but Samsung, with the Galaxy S9 and Note 9, did not succumb to the trend. Some manufacturers like Vivo and Oppo, and soon Xiaomi with the Mi Mix 3, even adopted slider mechanisms to pop the front camera out, but it seems like Samsung has its own solution in mind when it comes to placing front facing cameras in a way that the display still gets maximum real estate. During a presentation at the Samsung OLED forum, the company reportedly detailed a roadmap for smartphone design in 2019. Looking ahead, Samsung said that it is working on under screen sensors, which include fingerprint as well as camera sensors. Yes, Samsung is looking to place the front facing camera under the display, and it could be the company 's way of avoiding the notch completely in a bid to go bezel less. Since the roadmap was just recently shared, it is unlikely that the Galaxy S10, which is expected to launch in February 2019, will get the new in display cameras. Apart from in display cameras, Samsung also outlined plans for screen sound technology or as the company reportedly calls it lsquo;Sound on Display ', which could see speakers built into the screen as well. The South Korean electronics major also highlighted a display feature called Haptics on Display to allow for vibration from the screen. Word is that Samsung has a few of prototypes using the in displau camera technology and it is expected that smartphones bearing these in display cameras will start launching sometime in 2020. The latest version of WhatsApp Beta is out and as expected, it comes with an added feature. This time around, users get the option to enable high priority notifications for individual and group chats. Enabling this will place the app 's notifications higher up in the notifications list. This should ensure that the messages are more visible and not buried under other notifications. The feature is a part of version 2.12.118 of WhatsApp Beta and can be found under #39;Notifications #39; in the app #39;s #39;Settings #39; option. Left: WhatsApp Beta, Right: Standard WhatsAppThat isn 't the only new feature that is available to WhatsApp users. The company has also rolled out a new lsquo;Dismiss as Admin ' feature that lets group owners dismiss other group admins of their rights without removing them from the group. However, unlike the other feature, the lsquo;Dismiss as Admin ' feature is not part of WhatsApp Beta. Instead, it is available for iOS and WhatsApp web. For now, Android users have no other option but to use the latter to dismiss group members. Left: WhatsApp on iOS, Right: WhatsApp WebA few weeks back, this WhatsApp Beta introduced a feature that let users lock the voice recording button, thereby making it easier to record voice messages. Initially, users had to hold down the button in order to record a voice button. To use the feature, users need to hold down the voice recording button, and then swipe up. Once the user is done recording the message, they can tap the lsquo;Send ' button to send the message across. A few months back, WhatsApp introduced its own UPI based payment services in order to take on the likes of Paytm and Google Tez. The new service allowed users to send and receive money directly through WhatsApp. IN order to do so however, the WhatsApp number should be the same as the one linked to the UPI enabled bank account.
In a press release, the company said the cyberattack vulnerability is caused by developers carelessly hard coding their credentials in mobile applications that use the Twilio Rest API or SDK, despite best practices the company clearly outlines in its documentation. Twilio, said Appthority, has reached out to all developers with affected apps and is actively working to secure their accounts. According to the company, Appthority mobile security researchers have identified this as a real and ongoing threat affecting close to 700 apps in enterprise mobile environments, over 170 of which are live in the official app stores today. Affected Android apps have been downloaded up to 180 million times, the company said.
Before this WhatsApp had support for only csv, doc, docx, pdf, ppt, pptx, rtf, txt, xls, xlsx and similar kinds of files. The maximum file size that can be shared using WhatsApp depends upon the platform you are using. You can check the file sizes for OS that use and even for Web Desktop below.iOS 128 MB
The update that allows users to share documents over the app was introduced a while ago, and was welcomed with open arms. This made sharing of files very convenient for users. However, the biggest problem was that only a limited number of file formats were supported. WhatsApp used to support only formats like csv, doc, docx, pdf, ppt, pptx, rtf, txt, xls, xlsx and similar. However, after today 's update, all file formats will be supported.

The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier is reportedly headed to India sometime this year. According to reports, India Head Manu Jain confirmed that the device is amongst Xiaomi 's planned launches in India this year. The company had earlier confirmed that the Mi Box may also come to India this year. It would seem Xiaomi plans to expand its ecosystem in the country majorly, in 2016. Xiaomi 's significant popularity in the smartphone space in India will be bolstered by products like its Air Purifiers etc. The company 's business model revolves around building an ecosystem of products, just like Apple. So far, though, Xiaomi has been unable to really kickstart this ecosystem in India. Apart from smartphones, Xiaomi also sells headphones, Mi LED lamps, and other products, which can all be considered smartphone accessories. In China, Xiaomi 's ecosystem is huge, with has non electronic equipment like the Mi Pen, a Mi branded suitcase and more. Xiaomi wants to be established as a company that makes high quality products, while making profits through its ecosystem model. To do this, it will have to bring other products to India, while also striking deals with content partners for things like the Mi TV. Speaking of the Mi TV, Xiaomi 's much talked about television has been missing from the Indian market forever now. In fact, when Xiaomi first entered India with the Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone, the company had showcased the first generation Mi TV and announced a price for the same. Xiaomi has since been silent on when the TV would actually come to India, even as two more generations of the TV have passed in China. Company executives, like Hugo Barra, have often cited lack of content sources as the reason for the delay. When we discussed the Mi Box with the company, Xiaomi said it is trying to integrate DTH TV boxes into the device. This is of course to solve the content problem, and does make sense. However, some would say Xiaomi is taking too long. Interestingly, local Chinese competitor, LeEco, has spent less than half the time Xiaomi has in India, but is now selling both TVs and smartphones here. LeEco has been able to strike partnerships with YuppTV, Eros Now and more for content, while also promising more content deliveries throughout the year. The delay in launching other products may have frustrated Mi fans, but Xiaomi is not rushing things in India, its biggest market outside of China. The company will have to catch up to its competitors, but taking time may be the right way to go. Xiaomi received a lot of bad publicity when it had to withdraw the Mi 3 a few weeks post launch, and we have also received many complaints, on Twitter, about Xiaomi devices recently. It is understandable that Xiaomi is focussing on these issues before flooding the market with products. At the end of the day, the best product wins, but not without proper support and delivery mechanisms. Prasid Banerjee firstname.lastname@example.orgTrying to explain technology to my parents.
