In the months before American voters went to the polls, some of these campaigns with foreign ties sought to stoke social and political unrest around hot button issues, the company said, echoing tactics that social media companies have spent two years trying to counter. The approach had been adopted by the Internet Research Agency, an organisation with ties to the Russian government, two years earlier in an attempt to steer the 2016 presidential election in favour of Donald Trump.Twitter said it removed 418 accounts believed to have originated in Russia prior to Election Day last November, but declined to specify exactly when and said it could not link the efforts definitively to the IRA.
The idea mankind shares the universe with other life forms has long fired imaginations. Believers in the existence of alien life have just been given a boost, following the detection of puzzling radio signals originating from a galaxy 1.5 billion light years away. Although many experts believe these Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are created by powerful astrophysical phenomena ndash; such as black holes and super dense neutron stars ndash; others believe they could provide evidence of unfathomably advanced alien civilisations. These mysterious ultra brief and random radio emissions, which have only been heard for the second time in history, are difficult to detect and almost impossible to study to study.
Today, Twitter released a set of data files detailing Tweets and other actions taken by more than 4,500 accounts on the site linked to state backed information operations, specifically: 3,841 accounts associated with Russia;s Internet Research Agency and 770 other accounts ;potentially originating in Iran.;While Twitter had revealed the account numbers previously, this is the first time that it 's unveiling actual Tweets and more from the data trove behind them. The files total more than 360 gigabytes and include more than 10 million Tweets; more than 2 million images, GIFs, videos, and Periscope broadcasts; and a list of datapoints detailing more about those accounts and their Tweets how many followers and who they followed; the geolocation of their Tweets; polls that were run and more.
Scientists have been trying to determine the source of the fast radio bursts (FBRs) they ve been picking up ever since the first signal was detected in 2007. FBRs are high energy pulses originating from across the stars. On average, they last only a few milliseconds and are intermittent, so they can t be predicted and thus are very easy to miss. However, the use of newer equipment has enabled researchers to almost double the number of fast radio bursts discovered in a year.Dr. Ryan Shannon from Swinburne University of Technology and the OzGrav ARC Centre of Excellence was lead author on the new study, which was published in the journal Nature. The team used the Australia Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder (ASKAP) to detect the 20 new FBRs. They were also able to prove the FBRs they ve been picking up originated from alien galaxies halfway across the universe rather than in our own galactic neighborhood, as Shannon described it in a statement.

Nahabedian said it was not the fault of the staffers caring for the animal. #x201c;They we #x2019;re doing exactly what they were supposed to do, #x201d; she said.Nahabedian said veterinary procedures, like the one Har Lee was undergoing when he escaped, are usually performed before the public arrives. The zoo has a response plan in place if an animal were to escape during regular zoo hours, she said.In that situation, zoo guests would be brought into buildings for safety and a security team would respond to recapture the animal, she said.Born in captivity, Har Lee came to the Roger Williams Park Zoo in 2012 and is the only takin at the zoo, she said. Xiaomi Mi A1, the purported dual rear camera smartphone with stock Android has stopped by GeekBench benchmarking platform days ahead of its official launch. The smartphone is rumoured to be the Android One version of the company Mi 5X, the handset which was launched recently in China. The Xiaomi Mi A1 has performed well on GeekBench with a single core score of 852 and multi core score of 3837. The performance seems on par with smartphones powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, which is expected to be under the hood of Mi A1 as well. The listing further reveals the handset offers 4GB RAM and runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Xiaomi was previously expected to announce the Mi 5X in India on September 5, but it recently confirmed that a new series is coming to the global market. Most reports originating from Indonesia point at Xiaomi joining hands with Google to launch an Android One smartphone instead. The company is said to be using the Mi 5X as the reference for its first Android One device. The company has already confirmed that its September 5 event in New Delhi will see global launch of a new series. The first device in this new series could be the Mi A1, a stock Android version of the Mi 5X. The Mi 5X 's is one of the cheapest smartphones to embrace a dual rear camera setup. Xiaomi claims that the Mi 5X uses the same image sensors as the ones found on its flagship Mi 6 smartphone. The Mi 5X offers dual 12MP rear cameras with one wide angle and another telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. The rear camera supports phase detection autofocus and includes a portrait mode. It also gets an improved 5MP front camera with support for 1080p video recording. The Xiaomi Mi 5X sports a design similar to the existing Mi and Redmi series and is backed by a 3080mAh battery. The smartphone is priced at 1,499 Yuan (around Rs 15,000) in China and is expected to debut at a similar price range in order to tap into the growing budget smartphone market. If Xiaomi joins Google to launch a stock Android device then it will be a big win for the search giant, which is struggling to limit the fragmentation within the Android ecosystem. Lately, Lenovo has also ditched its Vibe UI to adopt a stock Android interface. Xiaomi has also confirmed that its new series will be available exclusively on Flipkart.

Fears that a bomb could be concealed in electronic devices prompted the United States to announce in March it would restrict passengers from bringing devices larger than cellphones on flights originating from 10 airports, including in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey. Britain followed suit with restrictions on a slightly different set of routes.DHS spokesman David Lapan declined to offer guidance on when a decision on an expansion would be made, but reiterated it was likely the restrictions would be expanded. He also said any expansion could affect international airports in Europe and elsewhere.
HMD Global, the company with the license to sell Nokia branded devices, has already announced its first range of smartphones Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 slated to go on sale sometime later this year. The company is also expected to announce more smartphones this year including its flagship device and a new report originating from China sheds light on its specifications. According to MyDrivers, Nokia 's upcoming flagship will be available in two different size variants, and will use metal design. This contradicts earlier rumours suggesting that the company might opt for a metal and glass build. The handset is tipped to be powered by Qualcomm 's Snapdragon 835 processor coupled with either 4GB or 6GB RAM. Other specifications include the use of a 23 megapixel rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, but without the Pureview branding. Nokia 's flagship is tipped to launch in the Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 price range. Earlier rumours indicated that HMD Global may announce around 7 Android smartphones this year and the company is tipped to be working on Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 mid range Android devices, which are likely to be powered by Qualcomm 's yet to be announced Snapdragon 660 processor. I should emphasize, airlines don t want access to state secrets, he said. But if airlines understand the outcome governments want, they can help with their real world operational experience to deliver the result effectively and efficiently. DeJuniac also asked a series of questions he said underpin confidence in the industry s security measures. For example, he questioned why airports listed in the U.S. and UK bans don t match and how one can consider laptops secure in the cabin of some flights and not others, particularly on flights originating at the same airport.
On March 21, the US administration announced that all digital devices except smartphones are banned on board for certain flights originating in the Middle East. Passengers flying from Cairo, Kuwait City, Dubai, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Casablanca, Jeddah, Amman, Riyadh, and Istanbul must check these items in.It directly impacts 56 US bound daily flights from the Middle East. The airlines affected are Royal Jordanian, Egypt Air, Turkish Airlines, Saudia, Kuwait Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Royal Air Maroc. (The UK followed suit with an electronics ban of its own the same day.)
While Samsung;s upcoming tablet has now been listed on Geekbench, it also previously popped up on GFXBench. According to the GFXBench listing, the SM T825 will have another variant that will carry the model number SM T820. While the latter will likely be a Wi Fi only model, the former is expected to come with cellular connectivity and support 4G LTE networks. The listing also suggests that display panels on both variants will sport a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels while promising 32GB of built in storage. As is usually the case, the GFXBench listing also revealed new information about the camera sensors of the Galaxy Tab S3. While the rear facing primary camera promises to be a 13 megapixel unit, the front facing shooter will likely incorporate a more humble 5 megapixel sensor. It is worth noting that while both GFXBench and Geekbench seem to suggest that Samsung s upcoming Galaxy Tab S3 will be powered by a Qualcomm chip, a recent rumor originating from China suggested that Samsung will use the Exynos 7420 SoC for its upcoming device. It remains to be seen whether that rumor turns out to be inaccurate or if Samsung is planning to launch different variants of its upcoming flagship tablet with two different chipsets, like it has often done with its premium smartphones in the past. Either way, more information on the Galaxy Tab S3 will likely follow sooner rather than later.
According to a report in GSMArena, the Xiaomi Mi 6 could be made available in two storage variants, 128GB and 256GB and three colour variants, blue, white and black. It is impossible to verify whether the leaks have provided accurate information. Most of them are originating in China. As per these leaks, the Mi 6 could be unveiled at a special screening event on Feb. 6, 2017 and sales are expected to start from March.A delay in the release of the Xiaomi Mi 6 could be the result of the Snapdragon chipset that is widely expected in the device. The Snapdragon chipset is in high demand though supply may fall short of the demand, another report stated. However, many tech experts believe that the short supply of the Snapdragon 835 chips is not that bad after all and the issue has been exaggerated.
While we;ve already seen some leaks of Nokia;s upcoming smartphones, all of them were related to either midrange or low end devices. However, earlier today, a new leak originating from the Chinese social website Weibo seemingly revealed the Nokia P, a rumored flagship device slated for release at some point next year. The Weibo post included only two images of an alleged Nokia P prototype, both of which you can see in the picture above. Apart from that, the same source reported that this mysterious device will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 system on chip and 6GB of RAM, in addition to boasting a 23 megapixel camera with a sensor made by Carl Zeiss, the well known German manufacturer of optical systems. A couple of months ago, this same smartphone was rumored to sport a QHD display, i.e. a display featuring a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels. Now, while HMD Global already confirmed it will announce some Nokia devices at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2017 trade show scheduled to start on February 27th, it 's unlikely that this device will be showcased in Barcelona. Namely, Foxconn 's subsidiary already confirmed that it 's planning to gradually reintroduce the Nokia brand to the market in 2017, meaning that it 's planning to attack the low end and midrange markets first before trying to compete with the latest and greatest devices Android OEMs will have to offer come next year. Of course, it 's also possible that this leak isn 't legit and that HMD Global has no plans to launch a Nokia flagship next year, so there 's not much to do but wait and see what Foxconn has in store for us in 2017.
While some of the specs for the upcoming device were spotted several weeks ago, the newest update on the Mercury is a pair of leaked images originating from China 's Weibo web service. The phone is nearly identical to the previously seen renders (above), featuring a nice 4.5 inch HD touchscreen with a 3:2 aspect ratio, and, of course, a physical QWERTY keyboard below.
