The Japanese origin carmaker recorded a sale of only 1,433 units in September 2019, which lead to a MoM growth of 10.3 per cent last month. The increase in sales last month as compared could be attributed to the festive season and the offers and discounts the brands were offering in a bid to boost sales during the harsh industry slump. The drop in sales numbers is partly because of the ongoing industry slowdown, and partly because Nissan s lineup needs a revamp. The Micra and Sunny have aged terribly, and will likely not see the light of day post the BS6 deadline next year.
Of course, we at Top Gear PH are more than happy to oblige, so we re here to give you what you asked for. Although we only lined up the 4x2 variant of the Terra because Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has yet to bring in the 4WD model of the beloved Montero Sport. Also, since the Toyota Fortuner still hasn t received a proper facelift as of writing, its battle with its biggest rival will have to wait. With those out of the way, let s get to it.The Nissan Terra is relatively a newcomer in the Philippine market, having been introduced only in May 2018. The Mitsubishi Montero Sport, on the other hand, landed on Philippine shores way back in 2005 and has had its fair share of visual changed over the years, some of which stirred quite the debate (yes, we re talking about the teardrop taillights). Nevertheless, in such a stacked segment, both vehicles have proven to be worthy competitors in their own rights.
In the market for an electric vehicle? The Nissan Leaf could be a solid choice. But if you want your EV with four wheel traction, you #39;ll have to look elsewhere. Nissan is working on that, though.Pictured here is a prototype with which Nissan is currently experimenting, based on the current Leaf, complete with a dual motor all wheel drive system. The inclusion of the second electric motor (placed on the rear axle) gives it not only better traction, but more power, too. 308 horsepower makes it twice as potent as the base Leaf, and 500 lb ft of instantly available torque doubles the twist on even the Leaf Plus.

Despite bringing the electric Leaf to market while the rest of the industry was still scratching its head over how to handle EVs, Nissan has since lost its lead. Eager to get back into the race, the automaker is putting together what it hopes will be a market friendly model utilizing battery power. It previewed a pre production concept to U.S. dealers last month. While the clandestine nature of its debut leaves a lot up in the air, it 's clearly aimed at besting the latest and greatest coming from rival manufacturers. Range will be in the neighborhood of 300 miles, with room for five and sprightly acceleration. The shape? Crossover, obviously.
This guy is reportedly heading to production.
