What black hole image tells us Black Hole: From where no light can escape First supermassive black hole photographed to be named Powehi As the black hole spins, it drags spacetime around with it, leading to the precession of the inner puffed up accretion disk. (Representational Image: National Science Foundation) Astronomers have discovered a black hole, almost 8,000 light years from Earth, pumping rapidly swinging plasma jets into the surrounding universe at a speed so fast that it is dragging spacetime. The research, published in the journal Nature, shows jets from V404 Cygni;s black hole behaving in a way never seen before on such short timescales. The jets appear to be rapidly rotating with high speed clouds of plasma potentially just minutes apart shooting out of the black hole in different directions. "This is one of the most extraordinary black hole systems I have ever come across, " said Associate Professor James Miller Jones, from the Australia 's Curtin University node of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR).

TwitterEmailGettyFacebookTwitterEmailThat all too familiar time of year has once again arrived, when every influencer, blogger, and fortunate person on your social media feed is snapping photos and videos from one of the many major music festivals happening nationwide. Coachella, which just concluded, is of course the most popular. But festivals like Firefly, Lightning in a Bottle, and Lollapalooza draw large crowds as well. Brands take full advantage of festival season, launching campaigns to promote the latest trends that will make for the most Instagrammable photos. But there s a common thread, and a catch: In all the promotions, every attendee seems to look the same.Thin, toned, tan based on the ads that brands run in the lead up to festival season, those seem to be the three qualifications to attend. Photos of size 00 women in boho glam outfits (think cutout dresses, oversize sunglasses, patterned crop tops) dominate the festival pages of brands websites, promoting the laid back, careless vibe of the music filled weekends. No matter what #x27;s on trend at a given moment, these outfits tend to look the same. (There s not much evolution when it comes to the Coachella aesthetic, unless you re James Charles.) But it s not just the clothes. It s also the models.

Tests showed that animals gradually put on weight when chronically exposed to a propionate dose equivalent to that used for preserving food, while a small study in human volunteers indicated that propionate may disrupt metabolic processes and lead to hyperinsulinemia. The investigators say their findings have important public health implications, given that there are no particular limitations on the use of propionate under its FDA approved labeling. Understanding how ingredients in food affect the body 's metabolism at the molecular and cellular level could help us develop simple but effective measures to tackle the dual epidemics of obesity and diabetes, " said G khan S. Hotamisligil, the James Stevens Simmons professor of genetics and metabolism and director of the Sabri lker Center for Metabolic Research at Harvard Chan School. Hotamisligil is senior author of the team s published paper in Science Translational Medicine, which is titled, The short chain fatty acid propionate increases glucagon and FABP4 production, impairing insulin action in mice and humans.
