Should the Netanyahu government have barred "Squad" members and BDS advocates Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from entering the country? Chattering classes in both countries quickly took sides. Surprising is how quickly major American Jewish organizations those one would most expect to defend Israel jumped to condemn its decision, arguing that it should have rolled out the red carpet for the two congresswomen. While their argument is that keeping the women out harms the Jewish State, it is their position that damages Israel and strengthens its enemies."A good faith visit to Israel is the best way to be exposed to its democracy, complexities, and range of views. And so while we absolutely disagree with the pro BDS positions of Reps. @IlhanMN amp; @RashidaTlaib, keeping them out is counterproductive," tweeted ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt on Thursday, echoing a nearly identical tweet sent out less than half an hour earlier by AIPAC, which declared "every member of Congress should be able to visit and experience our democratic ally Israel firsthand."

By Luke DarbyAugust 13, 2019FacebookTwitterEmailBRENDAN SMIALOWSKIFacebookTwitterEmailOn Monday, Ken Cuccinelli, the acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the highest ranking immigration official in the Trump administration, announced a new "public charge " restriction for documented immigrants. The new regulation empowers federal officials to deny green cards to people who have used public benefits in the past, including Medicaid, SNAP (food stamps), and housing assistance. It also gives immigration officials broad latitude to deny green cards based on whether they believe applicants are likely to use public benefits at some point in the future: applicants who aren #x27;t fluent in English, don #x27;t already have private health insurance, and who don #x27;t make at least 250 times the poverty level (which would be $160,000 a year for a family of four) are all more likely to be rejected, according to the New York Times. When a reporter for NPR #x27;s Morning Edition asked Cuccinelli on Tuesday morning if "The New Colossus, " the Emma Lazarus poem inscribed on the Statue of Liberty, is still part of the "American ethos, " he responded with his own version, "They certainly are, #x27;Give me your tired and your poor who can stand on their own two feet, and who will not become a public charge. #x27; "
The incident occurred as Murphy, 62, was preparing to perform at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village. Kurbo was originally a startup created by Joanna Strober and Thea Runyan, lead behavior coach at Stanford's Pediatric Weight Control Program. Last year, WW acquired Kurbo, and also sparked controversy when it announced it would offer its program for free to teenagers. The company, whatever you may call it, just took a further step into the childhood obesity arena by launching Kurbo as an online program and iOS and Android app.The app begins by asking children some simple questions about their weight and height (but not their activity level) and then to choose among seven goals, which include items such as: Eat Healthier, Lose Weight, Improve Clothing Fit, Maintain Weight, and (intriguingly) Make Parents Happy. But even if you choose a not necessarily weight related goal such as Improve Confidence, the app will begin by asking you to track what you eat, assigning a green light to fruits and vegetables, a yellow light to such items as lean meats and pasta, and a red light to things like hamburgers and sweets. The idea is to eat as much as you want of the green light foods, the yellow foods in moderation, and to "stop and think" before choosing the red light foods.

What led to the deaths of all seven dogs? Likely, liver failure was brought on by ingesting water contaminated with toxic blue green algae. On Facebook on August 9, Melissa Martin of Wilmington, North Carolina shared the passing of all three of her dogs:

...to claim that India always knew this would be to admit that reports from the West should be taken seriouslyAugust is a patriotic month, and the sense of being ahead of the world can make patriotism headier. The recently published report on climate and land by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has a message for the richer countries of the globe. The researchers have found that the effects of greenhouse gas emission and global warming can be substantially reined in with change in land use, agriculture and human diets. Using more land for livestock reduces the area for growing plant food, while woods and forests are cleared to create larger pastures. The damage caused is on multiple levels, beginning from the destruction of carbon dioxide sinks to a continuous rise in greenhouse gases, including methane from cows, released into the atmosphere. The conclusion is foregone. The IPCC report shows that a plant based diet balanced with protein would be far healthier for both the climate and human beings bells ring out in India and recommends that people eat less meat. Can there be any doubt now that the patriots who genuflect before the cow and close down butcher shops were right all along?

Land is under growing human pressure and climate change is adding to these pressures, according to the latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which warned that emissions from land and food have to be tackled in order to keep global warming below 2 C. The IPCC, the world body for assessing the state of scientific knowledge related to climate change, looked at the climate change effects of agriculture, deforestation and other land use. Together, those activities generate about a third of human greenhouse gas emissions.
