There is no question of postponing the 'bhoomi pujan' for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on August 5, said Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Sidharth Nath Singh. This, after a priest and 16 policemen on duty at the temple site, tested positive for COVID 19. "Just because 16 policemen have tested positive for COVID 19, we cannot defer a grand event of this nature. There are other policemen who will take care of the security. Likewise, the priest who has been tested positive is not the main priest, or the only priest, at the temple. There is nothing to worry. The place is being regularly sanitised. The stage is set, and the all necessary protocols will be followed on that day, " said Singh to THE WEEK.
Back in 1995, I had the opportunity to sit in on the first internet based video telecast, put on by IBM between its New York and San Diego offices. The images were herky jerky and the sound quality was so so, but from that moment on, the world began to change in interesting ways, and thousands of new business ideas were sprung. Nowadays, the entire world is being run via video teleconferencing. The experiences we are collectively having via videoconferencing may be paving the way for the next generation of business models as well. Tomorrow s ventures may be built upon the zoomification of work, education and training, as explained by Lars Sudmann, former CFO of Procter amp; Gamble Belgium and now innovation leadership and board advisor to organizations such as The Conference Board. Expect to see, for example, a 'Zoom' for university degrees, corporate training and next level corporate remote work, he explains. So far, it was assumed that one has to be together face to face for this, but with great user experience like Zoom and AI powered recommendation and idea generation I see a wide range of possibilities on the horizon that will be captured."

Women receiving treatment for ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers in New York City are not at increased risk of hospitalization or death during COVID 19, according to a study. The study showed that 54% of the women required hospitalization and among these, 25% died, for an overall death rate of 14%. The researchers noted these data are comparable to the results of another study, which showed a 21% death rate among all 5,700 hospitalized patients with COVID 19 in the city, who were mostly male (60%) and at greater risk of the disease, researchers say. Moreover, the results further showed having late stage gynecologic cancer, cancer surgery, or high dose chemotherapy also did not increase a woman s risk of dying from COVID 19.According to a study, the rate of overscreening for certain cancers is high, notably for women living in metropolitan areas. Women living in metropolitan areas were more likely to be overscreened for colorectal cancer, cervical cancer, and breast cancer. Overscreening was more common among women with a usual source of care, compared to those who did not have one, for cervical cancer and breast cancer. Women with good, very good, or excellent self reported health, compared to those with fair or poor self reported health, also had higher rates of overscreening for cervical cancer and breast cancer. Other factors associated with overscreening for cervical and breast cancers were an educational attainment greater than a high school diploma, compared to a high school diploma or less, and being married or living as married, compared to other marital status.
The coronavirus pandemic that originated in Wuhan and spread to the entire world with disastrous effect has drawn widespread international condemnation. As China herself has now largely recovered from the pandemic, her foreign policy is now aggressive aimed at enforcing her claims and punishing those she believes oppose her.India ''s northern eastern border with China Tibet is about 4000km long, and large parts of the border areas are claimed in occupation illegally by China. Prior to the 1962 war China illegally seized and occupied Aksai Chin, an area of about 38,000sqkm. Pakistan also illegally ceded about 5,180 sq km to the Chinese through an agreement on March 2, 1963. She also claims large areas in eastern Ladakh.
More worrying for Indian watchers is the prospect of a comprehensive military and trade partnership between Iran and China. Beijing, ostensibly, has undertaken to invest $400 billion in key sectors of Iran s economy, in return for an assured supply of Iranian fuel for the next 25 years. The proposed investment is the biggest China has ever pledged to any country as a part of its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), and envisages huge expenditure in building Iran s oil and gas and infrastructure sector ($280 billion and $120 billion respectively). Beijing also plans to station over 5,000 Chinese security personnel to protect the investments in Iran. Also read: Navy deploys large number of ships in Indian Ocean to send clear message to China
Currently, Tesla Model 3 is the most affordable car in the company s lineup, with prices beginning from $37,990 (roughly equivalent to Rs. 28.5 lakh) for the base variant in its home market. Although it s relatively affordable compared to other Tesla models, it isn t an affordable car in absolute terms. Also, there are plenty of markets, like India and other South Asian countries, where a price tag $35,000 would be considered appropriate only for a luxury car, not an affordable family car. Just a few days ago, Elon Musk had tweeted that he s hoping to enter the brand into Indian market soon, but at the moment, the EV brand doesn t have the tools necessary to win the buyers over.
