• LG's next flagship phone may have stereo speakers, wireless charging, 16MP rear camera - Digit

LG has already confirmed that the company rsquo;s next flagship will be a little late and won rsquo;t be launched at MWC which starts next week. A new report by VentureBeat now claims that the device might get launched around June this year and won rsquo;t be called the G7. While the phone does not have a name yet, the report by Evan Blass suggests that the device currently has a code name lsquo;Judy rsquo;. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, which could be coupled with a 4GB RAM along with 64GB of storage. However, we can expect an lsquo;S rsquo; or lsquo;Plus rsquo; model of the phone to launch alongside, offering more storage and RAM. On the camera front, the device may carry forward the dual camera setup at the rear with glass optical elements and a high aperture of f 1.6. Judy is supposed to feature an all new display technology called MLCD , which consumes 35% less battery than regular IPS LCD panels. The sub pixel arrangement on these displays will be RGBW aka Red Green Blue White. The device is suggested to feature a 6.1 inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 800 nits brightness. While there is no news about the display resolution, we can expect LG to offer at least a similar or better resolution than its current gen flagship. Talking about continuing features, we can expect the next flagship from LG to offer an HDR10 compatible display and IP67 68 certification. The device may also feature wireless charging, voice recognition, a digital assistant and an AI enabled camera. The phone is also reported to have stereo speakers which the report describes as ldquo;boombox rdquo; speaker. A previous report suggested that the phone was initially scheduled to launch this February only but was then scrapped shifting the launch date further. Instead, the company will be launching a new upgraded version of the LG V30 at MWC this year.

  • Sony could have bought nearly all of Marvel's movie rights for a bargain in 1998 - Quartz

That was the sentiment among the leadership at Sony Pictures in 1998, recalled then Sony executive Yair Landau, in Wall Street Journal reporter Ben Fritz rsquo;s upcoming book, The Big Picture: The Fight for the Future of Movies. An excerpt was published (paywall) in the Journal this week. The studio was then offered the film rights for almost every Marvel character, from the Avengers to the Black Panther and more, for $25 million from a rather desperate Marvel Entertainment, which had just emerged from bankruptcy. Landau rsquo;s bosses reportedly turned it down and instead bought the rights to Spider Man for $10 million, plus 5% of any movies rsquo; gross revenue, and half the revenue from consumer products.

  • Does Michelle Obama's Official Portrait Gown Have a Hidden Meaning? - Bravo (blog)

It's not the typical first lady portrait. In the Amy Sherald painting of Michelle Obama, which was unveiled at Washington's Smithsonian Museum on February 12, the former first lady exposes her arms in an eye catching halter gown. As it turns out, Milly designed the dress that has since become immortalized and there's more to the arresting frock than its modern silhouette. The bespoke gown was based on a piece from Milly's Spring Summer 2017 collection, and Sherald was drawn in by the geometric shapes that adorn its billowing fabric. Speaking at the portrait's unveiling, the painter said that the shapes reminded her of Gee's Bend, which is an all black community in Alabama that's known for its quilts.

  • Electric Vehicles Will Have a Long-Term Impact on the Gas Tax - Tax Foundation

Amir El Sibaie This week, the Trump administration is expected to release a plan to encourage more infrastructure related projects. A new White House budget proposal allocates almost $200 billion of existing infrastructure spending to new projects over the next decade. The plan does not, however, address the current Highway Trust Fund s shortfall, which in 2016 was projected to become insolvent by 2021. Recently, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has proposed raising the gas tax by 25 cents per gallon, which has been one of the most straightforward ways to raise revenue for transportation funding. However, before the gas tax is considered a long term policy solution it s worth discussing the tax s most significant existential threat: electric vehicles.
